Saturday January
31st 2009. Launch -75 days.
This is going to
be my last relaxing Saturday for a while. Yesterday, we realised that the
phrase “thank heavens it’s Friday” is no longer appropriate. From now on it
will be “thank heavens it’s Tuesday” (or Wednesday, or…) From Monday we start
shift working. This means that most of the team will be working at weekends and
taking their days off during the week at some time. At least we will not have
to work nights. Yet…
A day relaxing
and a 2-0 win for Bristol City and suddenly the world seems a better place. Enjoy it while it
lasts! My next weekend will come near the end of the week after next. This
though poses an interesting issue. With English, French, Irish and Italians in
our team, the Six Nations rugby tournament is usually an excuse for us to
gather at the house of someone with satellite television and enjoy the national
rivalries within the team. We can’t do that if we are working at the weekend!
We have a great spirit within the team (we’ve even convinced our Italian – a
banker who has seen the error of his ways and become a respectable rocket
scientist instead – to start playing golf) and these weekends are always fun.
Mind you, supporting England’s rugby team has not been a lot of fun recently
and I can feel more pain coming this time.
