09-03-01 - Launch - 46 days.There is still an eerie calm at weekends

09-03-02 - Launch - 45 days. At times today it has been impossible to avoid watching the progress of construction in the carpark.

09-03-03 - Launch - 44 days.  Today started in a rather alarming manner and I don’t mean by opening the blinds and seeing rain outside

09-03-04 - Launch - 43 days. A lot has been happening.

09-03-05 - Launch - 42 days. The launch countdown has reached a very significant day

09-03-06 - Launch - 41 days, Today a second instrument has passed its tests and pre-launch review

09-03-07 - Launch - 40 days, I wish that I could regale you with a tale of how Herschel’s golfers helped us to a magnificent victory over the NASA team today.

09-03-08 - Launch - 39 days. A completely normal, quiet day at home.

09-03-09 - Launch - 38 days. That number certainly jumps down over the weekend

09-03-10 - Launch - 37 days. The smile on out long-suffering Development Manager’s face in the cafeteria this morning said it all

09-03-11 - Launch - 36 days. Yesterday I forgot to recount and incident riding home last night on the bike

09-03-12 - Launch -  ?? days. An unsatisfactory day has had a thoroughly unsatisfactory end

09-03-13 - Launch -  ?? days. This was not one of my better days, at least initially, although it ended well.

09-03-14 - Launch -  ?? days.  That has been an excellent day

09-03-15 - Launch -  ?? days. Another weekend, another working day

09-03-16 - Launch -  ?? days. This was the morning after the weekend before

09-03-17 - Launch -  ?? days. This has been an interesting and exciting day

09-03-18 - Launch -  ?? days. Today we have had a couple of pieces of news that make it obvious that the prospective date that we had been given for the launch

09-03-19 - Launch -  ?? days. Every day a new adventure

09-03-20 - Launch -  ?? days. The daily dose of intrigue over the launch date took a new twist today

09-03-21 - Launch -  ?? days. It looks like the countdown will resume very soon if nothing unexpected happens

09-03-22 - Launch -  ?? days. This has been a relaxingly intense day

09-03-23 - Launch -  ?? days. The end of the test

09-03-24 - Launch -  ?? days. We are told that an announcement on launch is imminent in the next day or two

09-03-25 - Launch -  ?? days. Last night I started to read the book “The Right Stuff” by Tom Wolffe

09-03-26 - Launch -  ?? days. I spent most of my afternoon wrestling with the minutes of yesterday afternoon’s Videocon with the instrument managers about plans for the third simulations campaign

09-03-27 - Launch -  ?? days. Finally, the weekend is arriving

09-03-28 - Launch -  ?? days. We are told that a launch decision will be announced on Monday afternoon

09-03-29 - Launch -  ?? days. There is not a lot of point in setting the clock forward and carefully setting the alarm and then not switching on the alarm!

09-03-30 - Launch -  ?? days. The plot thickens in the Herschel launch mystery

09-03-31 - Launch -  ?? days. It seems that our suspicions were well founded: “Houston we have a problem”
